Dave's Profile
Dave first gained an interest in the aquatic world 1984 with
Morpeth Dolphins SAC where he reached the grade of
BSAC Dive Leader; he went on to gain his BSAC Advanced Diver in 1993 with Pegasus Divers an Army special branch of the BSAC. In 1995 he wanted to give something back to the diving community so he gained his Club Instructor (CMAS 1*); and if this was not enough in the same year he passed the coveted Army Sub-Aqua Diving Supervisor course at the Joint Service Sub-Aqua Diving Centre (JSSADC) in Fort Bovisand, Plymouth; and then on to Advanced Instructor (CMAS 3*) in 1996. The other BSAC instructor qualifications he holds are Oxygen Administration, Practical Rescue Management, Advanced Diving Techniques, Chart work & Navigation
Dave caught the bug of Technical diving when he completed the
TDI Advanced Nitrox course in 1995; then the deep wrecks began to call and he went on complete the ExtendedRange, Trimix courses and Gas Blending Technician in 1998. Then once again he wanted to give something back, so he became an Extended Range Instructor in 1999 and Advanced Trimix Instructor in 2000. Ever wanting to excel Dave then became an Instructor Trainer for SDI & TDI in 2004.
Dave has now qualified well in excess of 300 divers in UK and overseas locations such as Gibraltar, Jordan, Oman, Hurgarda (Red Sea), South of France and Belize throughout various TDI and BSAC grades.
It’s not all training though, as an avid expedition organiser and diver having completed over 3,000 Dives. Dave has organised and implemented numerous expeditions in the UK and overseas; he assisted Rod MacDonald in 2000 on a Trimix expedition surveying the wrecks of the Hampshire, Prince of Wales and Repulse which featured in Rod Macdonald’s book
“Into the Abyss”; Dave was the Diving Officer on the
Joint Services Trimix Expedition to dive HMS Prince of Wales and Repulse in 2002 which was televised by the
BBC.
